MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the The Shepherd's Centers is to mobilize active older people as volunteers and participants through programs to encourage learning and through services to aid them in remaining securely at home for as long as possible.
Shepherd's Center SouthEast Charlotte, Inc. is affiliated with The Shepherd's Centers of America.
HISTORY OF THE MOVEMENT
Shepherd's Centers of America is a pioneer in the creation of dynamic community partnerships with congregations to put faith into action. A Shepherd's Center takes its name from the 23rd Psalm which captures the meaning and purpose of life for older adults. The apostrophe in "Shepherd's" is important to suggest ownership and commitment to serving the community. In nearly 75 Shepherd's Centers all over America, volunteers from churches and synagogues put their faith into action. Shepherd's Centers of America's mission is "to build and support a nationwide network of interfaith community-based centers, providing meaning and purpose for adults throughout their mature years."
